Phillip Lanum, PA-C

Our physician assistant, Phillip Lanum, was raised in San Francisco where he went to a trade school and excelled at custom cabinet making and mill work. He has been involved in some aspect of medicine ever since he was a teenager when he was a lifeguard at a community campground in Santa Cruz California.

He joined the Air Force in June of 1982 and became a member of their forces Pararescue team. He spent 10 years in active duty serving in Alaska and Nevada, he then spent the next 10 years in the air National Guard as a Pararesuceman, he also worked as a licensed vocational nurse and attended American River College, where he graduated in 1996 with highest honors.

He then went on to physician assistant training at UC Davis, graduating in 1999. He has been working as a physician assistant since 2000 as a provider in urgent care, orthopedic surgery and now specializing as a spine physician assistant with Dr. Orisek.

Phil enjoys outdoor activities and has become an avid mountain and road biker, runner and swimmer. His personal accomplishments include summiting Mt McKinley, multiple swims from Alcatraz to San Francisco, multiple marathons including the Boston marathon and multiple Ironman triathlons. Spending time camping and boating with his wife Dyana and his children is one of his favorite activites.

One of the reasons we enjoy having Phil on our staff is we have recognized that he truly has the best interest of our patients at heart. Get to know him; we think you’ll like and appreciate him.
